In contemporary urban life, the relationship between the house and the neighborhood has dramatically weakened. In the past, homes and neighborhoods formed parts of a dynamic social fabric. Today, however, houses have turned into isolated units separated from their surroundings by nothing more than the opening and closing of a door. Social interactions within neighborhoods have faded, and most neighbors no longer know one another. Homes have become individual fortresses, while neighborhoods no longer function as spaces for human connection.
